A 36-year-old man is due before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with multiple offences after a police officer was injured in north Belfast.

The charges stem from an incident on Spamount Street at approximately 10:50 pm on Saturday, June 6. Police responded to a report of criminal damage to a car. A man armed with a knife had caused damage to the vehicle.

During the suspect's arrest, a police officer sustained minor injuries. The man faces charges of criminal damage, threats to kill, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, possessing a bladed article in a public place, and assault on police.

All charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service as part of standard procedure.
