Police in Newtownabbey seized a moped and an e-scooter on Friday afternoon after young people were seen riding them without helmets.

A PSNI spokesperson said the moped had been carrying four teenagers with no helmets, and described the risks as completely unacceptable.

Five youths will be dealt with for various offences, according to police.

Officers thanked local residents for their assistance during the operation.

The seizure follows a number of recent reports of mopeds and e-scooters being ridden recklessly in the wider Ballyclare area.

The PSNI neighbourhood team in Newtownabbey said the vehicles were taken off the road for destruction.
