Lila Dripps-Weir, aged two, died on Sunday 31 May at the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice.

She was born in Cookstown and was diagnosed shortly after birth with Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Deficiency, a disorder that affects fewer than one in a million children.

The condition impairs the body's ability to convert food into energy and has no cure. Lila experienced daily seizures, severe hearing loss, visual impairment, and difficulties with mobility and cognition.

Her parents, Hayley and Robert, said Lila received care from the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice during her illness.

The family raised funds for the hospice and for The Freya Foundation, which supports research into the disorder.

In a statement posted on social media, Hayley described Lila as the strongest person they had ever met and said the family was proud of her courage.

Lila was the sister of Ethan, Cordell and Mila. A private funeral will be held, and the family requested donations to the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice instead of flowers.
