The Strabane fundraising branch of Leukaemia and Lymphoma NI is set to hold its annual sponsored walk on Friday, September 4.

Walkers will set off from MK's Bar on Derry Road at 7pm, with registration from 6.30pm. The route proceeds out the Derry Road, turns at the by-pass, then goes towards the bridge to Bradley Way. From there it continues to Bridge Street, over the bridge to Market Street, and back to MK's Bar, covering approximately 5km.

Registration costs £10 for adults and £5 for children, with under-fives free, payable on the night.

Mickey Ferry, a committee member of the Strabane branch, said the support each year for the walk has been phenomenal, and it is a delight to see new faces participating. He noted the weather has been kind on previous walks and hoped it would be once again favourable. Ferry said the walk offers an opportunity for everybody to participate regardless of fitness level, and encouraged people to spread the word to friends, family, work colleagues and pets. He said participants are guaranteed an evening out walking, having a chat and bit of craic, while raising vital funds for blood cancer research.
