Cllr RuairĂ­ McHugh, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, opened a Book of Condolence in the Guildhall on Monday 23 March 2026 for Amy Doherty. The 28-year-old mother of two died after police found her with serious injuries at a property in Summer Meadows Mews, Derry, on Saturday. A 30-year-old man remains in custody on suspicion of murder.

The Book of Condolence opened to the public at 4pm that day and daily from 9am. An online option is available via the council website. Cllr McHugh stated the book allows the public to express condolences to Doherty's family and friends and show community support.

Doherty's wake begins Wednesday 25 March at 10am from the family home at 61 Norburgh, Foyle Springs, BT48 0RG. Her funeral leaves at 9.10am Thursday 26 March for 10am Requiem Mass at Holy Family Church, Ballymagroarty, followed by cremation at Antrim & Newtownabbey Crematorium, 582 Doagh Road, Newtownabbey, BT36 5BU at 1pm. The family requested donations to Foyle Women's Aid instead of flowers.

Doherty was mother to Rhea and Ronan, daughter of Patrick and Sharon, and sister of Shane and Ryan.
