Tyrone brothers finish 33-marathon challenge for dementia research
Two brothers from Tyrone have completed 33 marathons in 33 days, finishing in Dublin after starting at the London Marathon.
Jordan and Cian Adams covered 903 miles through all 32 counties of Ireland. They raised more than £1.5 million for the Alzheimer's Society.
The brothers ran through Omagh in April during the challenge. Their family has been affected by Frontotemporal Dementia, with 12 relatives having died from the condition.
Their mother Geraldine died from early-onset Frontotemporal Dementia in 2016 at age 52. Both brothers carry the MAPT gene mutation and face a 99.9 per cent chance of developing the disease.
Fifty per cent of the funds raised will go to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. The brothers said they aimed to increase awareness of Frontotemporal Dementia and reconnect with Ireland, which their mother loved.
