Three brothers from Castlewellan completed the Belfast City Marathon on Sunday to raise funds for the Mae Murray Foundation. Cian Milligan, 20, Shay Milligan, 18, and Ryan Milligan, 23, crossed the finish line together.

The charity has assisted Cian since he sustained a traumatic brain injury at age 14 in a crash. He also suffered a fractured skull and a ruptured spleen. Doctors informed his parents shortly after he was airlifted to hospital that his injuries could prove fatal.

Cian spent 14 months recovering in hospitals in Northern Ireland and England before returning home. The brothers stated the foundation played a key role in his recovery and adaptation to his injuries.

Ryan Milligan said the local community's support has been strong. He noted that the run provided an opportunity to give back. Ryan added that Cian motivated him throughout the event.
