Dunmurry Man Receives Five-Month Prison Terms for Driving Breaches and Court Order Violation
Daniel Kane, 31, of Colinglen Manor in Dunmurry, received five-month prison sentences on each charge at Lisburn Magistrates Court. The convictions covered driving while disqualified, breaching a non-molestation order and operating a vehicle without insurance. The offences occurred on July 11, 2025.
Kane had denied the charges but a prior hearing found him guilty. A probation report stated he strongly rejected the accusations. His lawyer noted that Kane now accepts the court's rulings and pointed to a disputed relationship separation as context. The lawyer argued that a probation order could offer needed discipline.
District Judge Rosie Watters observed that Kane continued to reject responsibility while submitting to the verdicts. She stressed the seriousness of ignoring court directives. The judge also banned Kane from driving for 12 months on the two related motoring counts and added a 25-pound offender levy.
The defence requested permission to challenge the sentence. Kane was freed on 500-pound bail while awaiting the appeal outcome.
