Dunmurry Driver Disqualified for 12 Months After Excess Alcohol Reading
A 24-year-old woman from Glenbank Close in Dunmurry received a 12-month driving ban at Lisburn Magistrates Court for driving with excess alcohol.
Sian Granier faced the charge after police stopped her vehicle on Milltown Avenue in Lisburn at 00.45 on February 1, 2026. Officers noted a broken headlight and smelled alcohol from the car.
She failed a roadside breath test and was taken to custody. A faulty breathalyser there led to a blood sample, which showed 99 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit stands at 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres.
Her defence stated she had consumed a couple of drinks with friends, waited, and believed she could drive home safely.
District Judge Rosie Watters imposed the ban, reducible to nine months upon completing a drink-driving course. Granier must retake her driving test before applying for a new licence.
The judge also fined her £250 plus a £15 offender levy, payable over 20 weeks.
