St Peter's GAC has received a donation of peat-free compost from Natural World Products to support its participation in the Sporting Nature programme. The programme, delivered by Ulster GAA in association with the RSPB and NI Water, aims to help GAA clubs across Northern Ireland adopt climate and sustainability practices.

The donation supports the club's ongoing garden development, which includes raised beds, a wildflower meadow, tree planting, bird boxes, bug hotels, and sensory planting. These features were established through the club's involvement in Sporting Nature.

Jimmy Magee, a volunteer responsible for the club's garden maintenance, said the compost has been used across raised beds, planters, the wildflower meadow, fruit trees, and general planting. He said the support has allowed the club to expand its work without placing additional financial pressure on the club.

Magee added that the gardens are open and accessible to the community and support wellbeing, biodiversity, and environmental awareness. He expressed gratitude for the support from Natural World Products and New Leaf Compost.

Sharon McMaster, community growing and outreach manager at Natural World Products, said the company donated compost to six clubs participating in the Sporting Nature programme this year. She said the initiative helps GAA clubs create spaces for nature, biodiversity, and community wellbeing.

The Sporting Nature programme is funded by The National Lottery and offers training and advice to promote biodiversity and protect water sources within the GAA club network.
