US man accused of historic assaults in Co Armagh offered £100,000 bail
An American citizen charged with seven counts of historic indecent assault on a girl in Co Armagh in the 1990s has had a £100,000 cash surety offered for his bail by his family.
The accused appeared in court where the prosecution outlined the allegations dating back more than two decades. The family's offer of a substantial cash surety was presented as part of a bail application.
The judge will rule on the bail application at a later date. The accused has indicated he intends to contest the charges.
In a separate case, a Newry man accused of making threats to kill and assaulting his father has been granted a temporary variation to his bail conditions to allow him to travel on a family holiday.
The judge was told that without the variation, the man would have to sit separately from his father at the airport and on the plane.
