1st Cloughfern Scouts held a community fun day on Saturday, August 22, to promote Scouting and encourage new members, following a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The event took place at Cloughfern Church of Ascension on Doagh Road in Newtownabbey, and the funding was used for the day itself and for programming activities.

Organisers said the event was well-received and provided a good opportunity for visitors to see Scouting in action. Activities included a bouncy castle, face-painting, a petting zoo, dancing, crafts, and Scouting demonstrations such as campfires, tent pitching, and making s'mores.

Scout groups restart on Thursday, September 10, in the church halls at Cloughfern Parish on the Doagh Road. The sections are Beavers (ages 6-8), Cub Scouts (ages 8-10), and Scouts (ages 10.5-15). All children and young people are welcome to join; further information is available via an online form.
