Cullybackey College Redevelopment Plans Enter Public Consultation
Plans for a full rebuild of Cullybackey College in County Antrim have reached the public consultation phase. The project centres on lands north, south and west of No. 41 Dreen Road, including No. 130 Dreen Road.
The new post-primary campus will hold up to 700 pupils. It includes hard play areas, sports pitches, car parking, landscaping and site works.
Road improvements target the Dreen Road and Cardonaghy Road junction. These feature a new roundabout, revised carriageway layouts and better pedestrian access. An extra roundabout is set south of No. 35 Dreen Road.
Consultation runs online from 28 April to 26 May 2026 at a dedicated website. The site provides plans, site boundary details, agent contacts, presentation boards and a feedback form.
An in-person event occurs at Cullybackey College on 14 May 2026 from 4pm to 7pm. Leaflets go to residents and businesses inside the site boundary and within 50 metres. School social media will promote the events.
North Antrim MLA Paul Frew called the plans big news for Cullybackey and North Antrim. He noted a new school remains far off. Frew said the process covers a modern school plus road works like a roundabout, carriageway and pedestrian changes at the junction. He has assisted the school in dealings with the Department of Education and Education Authority over years.
