Developers have started a public consultation on plans for a new Home Bargains store in Antrim. The proposal targets the former Townparks car showroom site on Ballymena Road southeast of Springfarm Roundabout. The site covers 0.9 hectares about one kilometre north of Antrim town centre.

The plans call for demolishing the existing building and constructing a single-storey retail store with 2,230 square metres of gross floor space. The new structure would front Ballymena Road in the same position as the current one. The site borders industrial premises to the north and northeast with residential properties nearby on Springfarm Road and across Ballymena Road.

Supporting features include 117 car parking spaces with six accessible bays cycle parking a rear service yard three pedestrian routes landscaping and a boundary buffer. These elements connect to the local road network and adjacent properties.

The consultation runs until 5pm on 10 April 2026. Residents and stakeholders can review the proposals and submit comments. Feedback will inform a Pre-Application Community Consultation Report submitted with the full planning application to Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.

Developers project 50 to 60 retail jobs upon opening 80 to 100 construction jobs during building and an £8 million investment in the local economy.
