A historic railway building in Cullybackey, County Antrim, has received certification from Tourism Northern Ireland. The Grade 1 listed property stood derelict for more than 40 years before owners Robert and Anne Christie purchased it in December 2019.

The building sits within the grounds of Cullybackey Railway Station, which first opened in 1856. The Christies restored it to preserve original features while adding modern comforts for guests.

The Ticket Bakehouse cafe opened in July 2022. The Railway Sleeper accommodation followed in December 2022.

Claire McNaughton, Accommodation Certification Manager at Tourism NI, noted the owner's attention to detail and commitment to quality. She stated that the certification process added value through inspection and advice.

Anne Christie said the team aimed to revive the building and honour its history. She described the certification as straightforward with supportive guidance from the officer.

The project earned the Great Western Railway Craft Skills Award from the National Railway Heritage Awards in 2023.

Guests have come from Australia, the United States, Canada, Italy, France, Spain, the UK, Ireland and locally.
