Jacek Marek Rzeszotalski, 34, of Leckagh Drive in Magherafelt, pleaded guilty to domestic abuse. The charge covered conduct abusive to his ex-partner from January 1 to August 12, 2024. The behaviour was likely to cause her physical or psychological harm.

District Judge Conor Heaney sentenced Rzeszotarski at Magherafelt Magistrates Court. The judge stated the actions caused the ex-partner psychological harm. He noted a pre-sentence report showed the defendant lacked insight into the offence's seriousness.

Judge Heaney required Rzeszotarski to join probation programmes. These cover reasoning and thinking skills, victim awareness, and conflict coping.

On August 12, 2024, the ex-partner visited a police station. She reported ongoing problems with Rzeszotarski. She alleged he threatened to kill her and then himself. She suspected he left a recording device in the home and broke her car key.

Police interviewed Rzeszotarski. He admitted leaving a recording device in the toilet to check her fidelity. He confirmed sending a text about the threats. He called the car key damage accidental.

A defence lawyer described Rzeszotarski as a paranoid partner. The lawyer said the actions were unacceptable. Rzeszotarski pleaded guilty at the first opportunity. He has no prior record of similar offences.

The ex-partner did not provide a written complaint. She shares a step-daughter and daughter with Rzeszotarski. The pair now maintain amicable contact despite not reuniting.
