A woman in her 70s died after a lorry struck her on Ardoyne Avenue in north Belfast. Police received a report of the collision at about 14:30 GMT on Tuesday, March 24.

Emergency services attended the scene. Firefighters from Whitla, Westland, and Springfield fire stations responded at 14:29. They used manual handling on the casualty. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road closed to traffic for some time but has re-opened.

Detective Inspector Stewart of the Collision Investigation Unit stated that officers responded with emergency services. He confirmed enquiries continue. Officers asked witnesses or those with digital footage to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference 801 of 24/03/26.

Sinn Féin councillor Nichola Bradley said the community feels devastated by the woman's death on Ardoyne Avenue. She offered condolences to the family.
