A 22-year-old man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving, and other driving-related offences after a fatal collision in north Belfast. He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Friday 17 July.

The collision occurred on York Street at around 2.40am on Thursday 16 July. A 24-year-old woman, Raven Adams, originally from County Tipperary, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 22-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police said the driver fled the scene but was arrested later in the Cavehill area. He remains in custody as enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Stewart from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit confirmed the vehicle struck two pedestrians.

DUP MLA Philip Brett said the local community was in shock and he was deeply saddened by the incident. He praised the emergency services for their quick and professional response.

The road has since fully reopened following earlier closures.
