A woman in her 20s died following a two-vehicle collision on the Newry Road in Kilkeel, County Down. The crash occurred shortly before 6.30pm on Monday, April 20.

The vehicles involved were a white Audi A1 and a blue Mercedes Benz. Emergency services attended the scene. The woman was pronounced dead there.

Two other people received hospital treatment for injuries sustained in the incident.

Detective Inspector Stewart of the Police Service of Northern Ireland Collision Investigation Unit stated that police received a report of the collision shortly before 6.30pm.

The Newry Road closed for several hours after the crash. It has since reopened to traffic.

Police continue enquiries into the collision. They ask witnesses or those with CCTV, dash-cam or other footage to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 1288 20/04/26.
