Three Charged in South Belfast Robbery on Glengall Street
Police charged three people in connection with a robbery on Glengall Street in south Belfast on February 3. A 21-year-old woman from no fixed abode, arrested on March 3, faces a robbery charge. She appeared at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on March 5.
A 28-year-old man faces charges of robbery and wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm. He appeared in court and was remanded in custody. A 30-year-old man faces charges of robbery, wounding, and possessing an article with a blade or point in a public place. He was also remanded in custody.
The Public Prosecution Service will review all charges. The incident took place shortly after 11pm. The victim parked his car when the woman approached and asked for money. She walked away as two men approached the car window.
One man broke the car key in the ignition. The other held an object and demanded money. The victim received lacerations to his cheek after being struck twice in the face. He was punched and told the attackers had his car keys.
CCTV footage from a nearby hotel captured the three accused. The recordings showed the two men preparing weapons from a torn beer can. The woman stood nearby during the attack. The men took the victim's wallet containing £70 before fleeing.
