Northern Ireland is expected to see outbreaks of heavy rain on Friday, according to the latest Met Office forecast.

The rain will be most persistent during the morning before easing gradually and becoming more showery through the afternoon. Showers may continue into the evening, with further outbreaks of rain overnight.

Forecasters say the wet weather will move southeastwards, but conditions across Northern Ireland will remain unsettled. Hill and coastal fog, along with patchy drizzle, could affect western and southwestern areas.

Temperatures are not expected to reach the highs forecast for southeastern England, where very warm or hot conditions are likely. In Northern Ireland, it will feel cooler and muggy at times.

The Met Office has indicated that brighter and drier weather may develop elsewhere in the UK, but northern areas including Northern Ireland will bear the brunt of the rain.
