Two men from Derry are to stand trial in 2027 on a charge linked to a meeting in support of the IRA.

Fergal Gerald Melaugh, 68, of Magowan Park, and Thomas Joseph Moore, 57, of Farren Park, each entered a not guilty plea at Belfast Crown Court on Friday.

The charge alleges that on April 21, 2025, the pair arranged, managed, or assisted in arranging or managing a meeting which they knew was to support a proscribed organisation, namely the Irish Republican Army.

Both defendants appeared in the dock together for the arraignment hearing.

The non-jury trial is expected to last between one and two weeks. Mr Justice Fowler set the trial date for January 18, 2027, and said he would review the case at the start of next month.

Melaugh and Moore were released on continuing bail.
