A search operation for a missing woman from Castlederg has entered its second week, with police and partner agencies continuing to focus on Lower Lough Erne and the Castle Archdale area.

Lyndsey Rankin, aged 31, was last seen at approximately 9.30am on Friday June 5 in the Castle Archdale Marina area of Lisnarick, County Fermanagh. She was wearing black leggings and a dark-coloured top.

Inspector Melanie Hicks of the PSNI said extensive searches were ongoing around the lough and surrounding areas. The operation is coordinated by a Police Search Adviser and involves the Coastguard, Community Rescue Service, Foyle Search and Rescue and the RNLI.

A separate volunteer dive team has said it was turned away when it offered to join the search. Tyrone Underwater Search and Recovery, together with members of Boyne Fishermans Rescue and Recovery, travelled to Enniskillen but police did not permit them to take part. The group's chairman, Malachy Foye, expressed disappointment, saying the families involved in such cases deserve every possible effort.

The PSNI responded that only organisations listed on the Department of Justice’s NISAR register of deployable search and rescue assets can be tasked to assist police-led searches. Tyrone Underwater Search and Recovery is not on that register.

Meanwhile, K9 Search and Rescue Northern Ireland has confirmed it deployed specialist dog teams and swiftwater technicians to Lough Erne for four days last week. The organisation said it planned to return later this week at the request of the family.

Police repeated their appeal for anyone who saw Lyndsey Rankin in the days leading up to June 5, or who has information about her movements that morning, to contact them on 101, quoting reference 1242 of 05/06/2026. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers.
