Rescue teams from across Northern Ireland resumed their search on Saturday morning for a missing Castlederg woman on Lower Lough Erne.

Lyndsey Rankin was last seen at around 9.30am on Friday in the vicinity of Castle Archdale Boat Hire, according to police. The Police Service of Northern Ireland has described her as a high-risk missing person.

HM Coastguard was alerted to an incident at Inish Mail Island at 5.22pm on Friday. Coastguard rescue teams from Erne and Kinnego, RNLI lifeboats from Enniskillen and Carrybridge, and a PSNI helicopter were deployed. No trace was found during Friday’s operation.

The search was stood down late on Friday but resumed at first light on Saturday. It covered a large section of the lough, involving the Lough Erne Search and Rescue team, a team from Lough Neagh, members from the North Coast area and the RNLI.

Family members of Ms Rankin were at the scene as the operation continued.

A PSNI spokesperson confirmed that searches were being carried out alongside partner agencies. Officers are appealing for anyone with information about Ms Rankin’s whereabouts to contact them on 101 or 999, quoting reference CC2026060501242.
