Search for Missing Castlederg Woman Enters 20th Day on Lough Erne
The search for 31-year-old Lyndsey Rankin from Castlederg has entered its 20th day, with police and partner agencies maintaining daily operations on Lough Erne.
Ms Rankin was last seen at Castle Archdale Marina in County Fermanagh on Friday, June 5. At approximately 9.30am she rented a boat from Castle Archdale Boat Hire. She was wearing black leggings and a dark-coloured top.
Later that afternoon the boat was found near Crevinishaughy Island with a life jacket and phone on board.
The PSNI is coordinating a multi-agency response that includes the Community Rescue Service, Coastguard, Foyle Search and Rescue, and the RNLI. Sonar technology is being used as part of underwater and surface searches. Teams launch daily from the Round O in Enniskillen and from Castle Archdale marina.
Inspector Melanie Hicks said officers understand the depth of concern in the community and the extremely difficult situation for the family. She added that police are working hard to locate Ms Rankin with support from all partner agencies, and operations are guided by a Police Search Adviser.
Members of the public have reported a sustained emergency services presence around Lower Lough Erne and the Castle Archdale shoreline. The effort has required land, water, and air resources in often challenging conditions, with methodical sweeps of the lough and shoreline checks involving specialist boats and equipment.
Police thanked those who have already come forward and renewed an appeal for any information about Ms Rankin’s movements in the days leading up to June 5. They asked anyone who was on or near Lough Erne, Castle Archdale, or the surrounding roads and walkways at that time to review dash-cam, CCTV, or phone footage. Officers said even small details could assist the inquiry.
