Mid Ulster roads face weeks of disruption due to multiple closures
Motorists in Mid Ulster face a series of road and lane closures this month and into August due to utility works, surface dressing, and routine maintenance.
The longest lasting disruption involves full road closures for surface dressing. The B0043 Pomeroy Road near Dungannon will close from the Tanderagee Road junction to Lurganeden Road until July 31. A diversion will be in place with delays of 5 to 15 minutes expected. Similarly, the B4 Tullyreavy Road in Pomeroy is closed in the same period for the same reason.
On the A4 dual carriageway near Dungannon, overnight lane closures are scheduled for both westbound and eastbound carriageways until August 3. The work, carried out by Amey Transport Infrastructure, involves grass cutting, sweeping, gully cleaning, and weed spraying. A 15-minute obstruction may occur on the eastbound side.
Several other routes have lane closures for utility installations. On the A29 Dungannon Road in Cookstown, a lane closure is in place from June 15 to July 5 for installation of new gas mains by Evolve. The A6 Magherafelt Road at Castledawson will have a lane closure from June 16 to June 30 for work on the centre reservation by DfI Western.
BT Openreach is currently carrying out poling and cabling works at multiple locations. On the B160 Shore Road in Ballyronan, a lane closure operates on June 15, with delays of under five minutes. The A5 Omagh Road in Dungannon has two separate closures: one on June 15 for poling and another from June 15 to June 29 for underground cabling.
Fibrus will close the hard shoulder on the A29 Cookstown Road in Moneymore on June 18 and 19 to clear a network blockage. Meanwhile, the B520 Moor Road in Clonoe has a lane closure from June 15 to June 19 for BT Openreach cabling, again with delays of less than five minutes.
All affected routes will have traffic control measures in place, and drivers are asked to allow extra time for their journeys.
