Road Closures and Lane Restrictions Planned Across Mid Ulster
Motorists in Mid Ulster should expect delays as a series of road and lane closures take effect from Monday, June 29, through early August. Utility installations, road maintenance, and surface dressing are among the reasons for the disruptions.
In Magherafelt, the A0054 Magherafelt Road will close between Castledawson Roundabout and Curran Road from June 29 to July 4 for high-friction surfacing, with a diversion in place. Lane closures on the A6 include overnight maintenance on Glenshane Road near Fallagloon on June 29-30 and centre reservation works on Magherafelt Road in Castledawson until June 30.
The A29 will have lane closures in several areas: Dungannon Road in Sandholes for tree cutting on July 2, Coleraine Road in Maghera for manhole rebuilding from July 1 to 3, and Desertmartin Road in Moneymore for a valve replacement on July 1. A gas mains installation on A29 Dungannon Road in Cookstown continues until July 5.
Utility companies are carrying out works across the district. NIE Networks has overhead line work on Hillhead Road in Creagh on July 3 and cabling on Killyman Road in Dungannon until July 17. BT Openreach will install fibre on Ballymacombs Road in Portglenone on June 29 and complete poling work on Eglish Road in Dungannon on June 30. NI Water sewer installation on Molesworth Street in Cookstown runs from June 29 to July 10.
Surface dressing closes two routes until July 31: Pomeroy Road (B0043) between Tanderagee Road and Lurganeden Road, and Tullyreavy Road (B4) in Pomeroy, both with signed diversions. Overnight lane closures on the A4 Dual Carriageway westbound near Dungannon for routine grass cutting, sweeping, and gully cleaning continue until August 3.
All works are subject to traffic control and delays are expected to be under five minutes in most locations.
