Enniskillen Running Club has voiced support for a new festive fundraising challenge launched by Autism NI, encouraging people across Fermanagh and beyond to participate.

The challenge, titled '12 Runs of Christmas', asks participants to complete 12 virtual runs during December, with the option to choose their own distances for each run. This flexibility is intended to make the event accessible to both experienced runners and complete beginners.

Autism NI hopes to raise £10,000 through the initiative, with individuals encouraged to raise £80 each. Funds raised will go toward the charity's Helpline service and Parent and Carer Support Courses, which provide assistance to autistic people and their families.

Ian Birney of Enniskillen Running Club welcomed the challenge. He said the club was delighted to support Autism NI's services and encouraged other clubs and community groups to get involved.

Autism NI's Fundraising and Events Officer, Ruth Brown-Kerr, said the challenge was a flexible way for people to take on a personal goal while raising vital funds. She noted that December is a busy time for the charity's services as families navigate challenges around Christmas, and thanked CDE Group for sponsoring the event.

The virtual format allows participants to run wherever they choose, at any time, as long as they complete 12 runs over the month. Distances can be as short as 1km or as long as 10km per day, according to the club's statement.
