Pupils at Holy Trinity Primary School in Enniskillen began a new life skills programme last Monday as part of the LEAD Project.

The initiative targets Year 7 learners through structured classroom-based workshops lasting around two hours each. It aims to equip them with practical life skills and support emotional wellbeing, confidence, and positive behaviour.

Sessions cover mental health and anxiety management, healthy eating, safe internet use, awareness of vaping risks, and basic financial understanding. Additional topics include friendships, bullying, and mindfulness techniques, with content delivered by trained local professionals.

The project has engaged 78 Year 7 pupils at the school and a total of 160 Year 8 pupils across the district, according to a spokesperson named Mairéad.

She said the workshops build self-confidence and resilience, help pupils form healthy friendships and address bullying, and explore the risks of vaping. The sessions also cover online safety, healthy eating and nutrition, and managing emotions.

The initiative is a collaboration between the Fermanagh and Omagh Locality Planning Groups, the Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership, and the Western Trust Health Improvement Neighbourhood Renewal Programme. It received funding from the Police and Community Safety Partnership and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.
