Pupils at Sacred Heart College in Omagh participated in a mental health workshop hosted by the Western Health and Social Care Trust.

The event marks the start of the Learn, Educate, Advice and Develop initiative, with further sessions planned for schools in the district.

The program targets Year 8 students in Omagh and Year 7 pupils in the Enniskillen area.

Mairead Taggart, Health Coordinator for Neighbourhood Renewal Health Improvement Equality and Involvement at the Western Trust, stated the program was developed with input from local young people and service providers.

She noted the workshops use activity-based learning to equip pupils with skills to handle challenging situations in their school setting.

Taggart added participants will learn ways to safeguard their mental health and gain confidence in discussing concerns about their own or friends' wellbeing.
