A six-week breathwork programme has launched in West Belfast to support primary school children with emotional regulation and resilience. Rang 4 pupils at Scoil na Fuiseoige in Twinbrook are participating in immersive 9D Breathwork sessions aimed at managing stress, calming anxiety and building confidence.

The programme is delivered by Martin and Ashleigh Duffy, Northern Ireland's first certified male and female 9D Breathwork facilitators from 9D Warriors Breathwork. It provides children with tools for use before exams or during stressful moments, focusing on nervous system regulation, focus improvement and healthy responses to pressure.

Recent sessions have occurred at The Good Shepherd Primary School, with additional sessions at other schools in Belfast, Glengormley and Enniskillen. Scoil na Fuiseoige principal Caoimhín Williamson reported observing benefits including reduced stress, improved concentration and readiness to learn after two weeks.

Martin Duffy stated the programme addresses trauma related to historical and ongoing issues in Northern Ireland, aiming to prevent mental health problems. He advocated for its rollout across all Northern Ireland schools.
