Portrush pharmacy assistant retires after 75 years
A pharmacy assistant in Portrush has retired after working at the same premises for 75 years.
Sadie Jefferson started at the shop, then known as JGW Boggs Medical Hall, in 1951 when she was 15 years old.
Ownership of the business changed over the years and it is now a branch of Gordons Chemists.
Jefferson said she began the role after her sister encouraged her to apply and that the work initially involved preparing medicines and tablets by hand.
She described the customers as the main reason for staying, noting that she had known some families across four generations.
Jefferson took part in two skydives at age 80 to raise funds for the Northern Ireland Hospice.
She plans to continue with the local heritage group, gardening, and meeting friends after retirement.
Robert Gordon, owner of Gordons Chemists, said Jefferson began working at the shop three years before he was born and described her as a force of nature with a large local following.
