Gordons Chemists in Kilkeel won the Working in Partnership Award at the Pharmacy In Focus Awards on 21 March. The award recognises collaboration with external organisations to improve patient care and community health. The pharmacy shared the honour with Kingdom Youth Club in Kilkeel.

The ceremony occurred at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Belfast. The award highlights the pharmacy team's partnership with the youth club on a weekly support programme for families of children with additional needs. Pharmacist Ellie McDowell attends the sessions to address health concerns raised by parents.

Orla Flanagan Baldwin, youth worker in charge at Kingdom Youth Club, secured funding in 2025 for a pharmacist to join the group. McDowell, who has worked at the Greencastle Street branch for six years, participates weekly. The programme proved popular enough for a second round with another pharmacist, Kathryn Spiers.

Families from the programme now visit Gordons Chemists for health advice. The partnership has improved referral pathways and access to pharmacy services. Gordons Chemists in Kilkeel was also a finalist for the Commitment to Health and Well-being Award for the same initiative.

Gordons Chemists in Saintfield reached the final for the Customer Award, based on patient nominations and votes.
