Police arrested a man in his 60s following an attempted robbery at a shop on Brookmount Road in Omagh, Co Tyrone. The incident occurred shortly after 10:45 pm on Friday, April 25.

A masked man armed with a gun entered the premises and threatened staff. He demanded the contents of the till but fled without taking anything.

Officers responded to the scene and took the suspect into custody on suspicion of attempted robbery. They also charged him with possessing a firearm or imitation firearm during the offence.

The man remains in police custody. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with CCTV or other footage to come forward.
