Police arrested a man in his 40s in North Belfast on Friday evening after he produced an imitation firearm outside a property on Cavehill Road.

The incident occurred shortly before 6.25pm on 20 March. A vehicle stopped outside the property. A male occupant exited and pointed what appeared to be a firearm at the male householder.

The man approached the front door and struck it with the weapon. Another person in the vehicle threw a glass bottle at the property.

The vehicle left the scene. Officers later stopped it in the Harmin Drive area.

The suspect faces charges including possession of an offensive weapon, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and driving offences. He was released on bail for further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Stevenson said enquiries continue. Police seek witnesses or anyone with dash cam or mobile phone footage.
