Classic Car Run Set for Glenarm Castle to Raise Funds for Childline
Classic car owners from Northern Ireland will gather at Glenarm Castle on Sunday 26 April for Drive it Day, an event organised by the Ulster Vauxhall Opel Classic Community to support Childline.
Participants will depart from Lansdowne Crescent in Portrush and Ballymac Hotel near Lisburn, then travel the Antrim Coast Road to the castle grounds for a midday public display. Organisers note that drivers unable to join the convoy may arrive independently.
The event sells rally plaques for £12.50 online, with buyers asked to select UVOCC as the club. Last year's gathering at the same location collected more than £2,800 for Childline, the NSPCC service operating from Belfast and Foyle.
Ken Smyth of UVOCC expects this year's total to surpass that amount. The NI Italian Car Club plans to join, and the event welcomes owners of any classic car make.
Glenarm Castle stays open to visitors, who may use the grounds and facilities. Public donations will occur via QR codes on vehicles or NSPCC collectors present.
Drive it Day originates from the Federation of British Historical Vehicle Clubs to mark the 1900 One Thousand Mile Trial.
