Artist Deby McKnight has created a setup in her east Belfast terraced home that allows women to step onto a piece of lunar meteorite Bechar 003. The display recreates elements of the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing using a stepladder, foil blankets, mission plans and the meteorite at the base.

McKnight acquired the meteorite after a geologist friend informed her of its availability. Its composition matches samples from Apollo missions. She aims to enable 100 women to take part. So far, 44 have done so.

Neighbour Betty Campbell marked her 90th birthday by wearing a spacesuit, moon boots and helmet provided for the event. She stepped onto the meteorite as part of the display.

McKnight's niece Jane McKnight assisted in designing and making the spacesuits and boots. Jane plans to be the 100th participant.

Dawn Watson took part in the project. She described the experience of climbing the ladder and stepping down onto the meteorite in a room of women.
