A ten-year-old boy from County Armagh has won several awards at a national performing arts competition. Joseph Mulholland, a pupil at St Patrick’s Primary School in Magheralin, earned Best Artistry in Singing in a category that drew over 100 entrants aged between seven and seventeen. He also placed first in his age group for solo singing and third for music theatre movement.

The awards were presented at the National Performance Awards. His mother, Lynsey Mulholland, said he is a dedicated and hardworking young performer. She added that his recent successes are a recognition of his talent and commitment.

Joseph trains at The Shelley Lowry School in Portadown, where he studies singing, dance and musical theatre. He began performing at an early age, starting with singing before developing a passion for acting.

Encouraged by his family and teachers, he has taken part in various competitions and performances. His mother noted that every opportunity has strengthened his determination to keep learning and pursue his dream of a career in acting and musical theatre.

Joseph himself said he would like to become an actor and performer, with ambitions to appear in television shows, films and musicals. He also mentioned an interest in magical themes and hopes to visit Salem, Massachusetts one day.
