A 22-year-old man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter following the death of a pensioner in Antrim last year.

Marcus Fleming, of Cedarmount, entered the plea at Belfast Crown Court on Tuesday before Madam Justice McBride.

He admitted unlawfully killing 74-year-old Anthony Miskimmon on 6 November 2024.

Mr Miskimmon was assaulted on Station Road on the evening of 2 November. He was punched and knocked unconscious, and died in hospital four days later.

Fleming had initially denied the charge. His barrister, Barry Gibson KC, asked for the defendant to be re-arraigned, after which he pleaded guilty.

The court was told Fleming had already pleaded guilty to two charges of criminal damage to a police vehicle on 2 and 3 November.

The defence has received a psychological report on Fleming and is awaiting a further medical report. A pre-sentence report was requested, and the prosecution is preparing victim impact statements.

Fleming was remanded in custody. A further hearing is set for 2 October.
