Police Seize Electric Bikes from Youths in North Belfast After Dangerous Riding
Police in North Belfast seized two electric bikes from young people after observing reckless riding on Sunday, April 19.
Officers saw around ten youths driving the bikes in the middle of the road along North Queen Street. The group moved to the Limestone Road area, where police noted two opposing groups of young people running toward each other.
Police deployed right away and dispersed the groups. They stopped and seized the two bikes, then identified the children riding them.
The bikes had travelled at speed through residential streets and on footpaths, close to members of the public. Officers stated this put pedestrians, other road users, and the riders at serious risk of harm.
A PSNI spokesperson called the behaviour reckless and illegal. The two youths involved now face legal repercussions.
Police said they will keep patrolling areas, identifying those involved, and taking action to keep children safe.
