Astec Industries Expands Omagh Facility, Plans 100 New Jobs
Astec Industries has finished expanding its manufacturing facility in Omagh, Tyrone. The US engineering firm expects to add around 100 jobs there over the next three years.
The company doubled the site's operational space to 100,000 square feet at Doogary. Astec set up European headquarters in Omagh after buying Telestack Ltd in 2014. Currently, 210 staff work at the location.
The expansion supports increased production of crushing and screening equipment to address international demand. Recent investments focused on research and development.
Astec Europe managing director Damian Power stated that 2025 brought challenges for equipment makers, but the firm starts 2026 with solid orders and a growth plan.
Power noted plans to expand in the European market, including entry into wash plant and environmental sectors. The company will launch the Peterson product line of horizontal grinders and drum chippers at the IFAT exhibition in Munich this May.
Astec will produce a new range of tracked mobile plants, designed by teams in Northern Ireland and the US, for global release in 2026 and 2027. A product pipeline runs through 2028, with certification of US models for Europe.
Power said the firm draws on Northern Ireland's engineering tradition to compete globally. Modular solutions and expanded tracked mobile products target quarrying, construction, and recycling markets.
The Omagh growth reflects nearly $10 million in investments from the US parent since 2014.
