Carnalridge Primary School Mourns Long-Serving Caretaker Ernie McAuley
Carnalridge Primary School in Portrush closed on Tuesday, April 14, after the death of its caretaker Ernest McAuley. McAuley served at the Atlantic Road school for more than 30 years.
McAuley died peacefully on April 11. The school stated that everyone connected to it, past and present, mourns his loss. School staff noted he walked the corridors for over 30 years, greeted everyone and helped whenever possible.
The school expressed condolences to McAuley's family. A family notice listed him as beloved son of the late Ernest and Agnes, brother of William, Samuel, Johnny and the late James, Robert and David, brother-in-law, uncle and great uncle.
School community members described McAuley as a friend to children and staff. They said everyone respected him and valued his contributions. Staff called him a great colleague and friend.
