Police investigate anti-immigration banner at Tyrone play park
Police are investigating an anti-immigration banner fixed to the fence at Moygashel Play Park in Tyrone.
The banner, which appears to be AI-generated, shows families inside the park alongside a group of men depicted as Muslims being prevented from entering.
It carries the text "Not Welcome, Not Wanted, Not Here."
Neighbourhood Inspector Robert Jeffers said the matter is being treated as a hate incident, with enquiries ongoing and local partners engaged.
Mid-Ulster District Council referred the matter to police after being notified of the banner.
Sinn Féin MLA Colm Gildernew called for its immediate removal, stating there is no place in society for racism and that the banner's placement at a children's play park is particularly concerning.
SDLP councillor Malachy Quinn also condemned the banner and said it should be removed immediately.
The Moygashel Bonfire Association shared an image of the banner on social media and stated its position is non-negotiable.
