Down's Gaelic football team holds a perfect record in Division Three of the National League after five matches. The team has scored 117 points, the highest total in their division and third highest across all four divisions.

John Clarke, a former county forward, stated that the attack can improve by distributing scores more evenly. He noted Ceilum Doherty's strong performance and suggested Liam Kerr add points to ease pressure on main scorers Pat Havern, Odhran Murdock, and Daniel Guinness.

Clarke observed that opposing teams target those three players. He said Down acknowledge an over-reliance on them and that others must contribute scores.

Wins include Clare by five points, Limerick by one, Westmeath by a goal, Wexford by ten, and Fermanagh by three. The squad has gained depth with returns of Shane Annett, Liam Kerr, and Caolan Mooney, plus new contributions from Pearse McPolin and Micheal Rooney expected.

Clarke highlighted the Westmeath victory as a boost, calling them the division's second-best team. He added that Down sought promotion at the league start and have shown character in close games.

Down aim for a league final after two remaining matches. Clarke said they want to win the title, referencing a prior final loss to Westmeath, before facing Donegal in the championship.
