Tyrone U-20s Crush Down in Ulster Championship Group Match
Tyrone beat Down 4-23 to 1-14 in round two of Ulster U-20 Championship group B at O’Neill Park in Dungannon.
Down lost their opening group game to Armagh the previous week. Tyrone led 1-6 to 0-1 after 15 minutes. Down scored 0-5 in the first half from Eoghan Travers, Luke Quinn and Liam Blaney. Tyrone scored three goals and seven points before the break for a 3-13 to 0-5 halftime lead.
Eoghan Travers scored early in the second half. Tyrone added five points in response. Down scored a goal from Ruairi Madine and points from Tadgh O’Hanlon and Eoghan Travers late on.
Down scorers were Eoghan Travers with 0-10 including six frees and two two-pointers, Ruairi Madine 1-0, Tadgh O’Hanlon 0-2 from two-pointers, Liam Blaney 0-1 and Luke Quinn 0-1.
Down face Cavan in their final group game next Wednesday at Páirc Esler at 7.30pm. Down sit fourth in the group with zero points. A third-place finish advances them to play the third-placed team from group A. Fourth place sends them to the Tier 2 competition.
