Newry, Mourne and Down Council Opens Applications for 2026 Artisan Markets
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has opened an Expression of Interest process for artists, makers, food producers and creative enterprises to join its 2026 Artisan Markets Programme.
The markets will take place in Newcastle, Downpatrick and Warrenpoint. They aim to connect local producers, creators and small businesses with customers to support town centres.
Applications from food trucks and mobile catering businesses are accepted, covering items such as tea, coffee, ice cream and other food and drink products.
Councillor Philip Campbell, Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, stated that the markets support small businesses, increase footfall and highlight local creativity. He noted that they enliven towns and villages, and urged new and returning traders to apply.
The application window runs from 10 March to 31 March 2026. All traders must submit an EOI form for consideration in any council-run markets that year.
Successful applicants gain high-visibility spots with council-backed promotion, including social media, themed events, on-site branding and seasonal markets. Selections consider product quality, sector variety, geographic spread and market balance.
The EOI form launches on 10 March at 9am at www.newrymournedown.org/trading-at-artisan-markets. Traders may also email the council's Business Support team at business@nmandd.org.
