An Omagh family has raised more than £18,500 for Northern Ireland Chest, Heart and Stroke through a memorial event.

The Night at the Races took place at the Coach Inn on the first anniversary of the death of Kathleen Keyes, known as Kate. The event attracted strong community support and secured £18,502.51 for the charity.

The funds will help the organisation continue its work preventing chest, heart and stroke conditions and supporting people and families affected by them across Northern Ireland.

The Keyes family expressed their appreciation to all who contributed, including attendees, donors, sponsors and volunteers. They said their mother would have been blown away by the generosity shown on the night.

They extended special thanks to Valerie Saunders and her colleagues at the charity, the race sponsors, horse sponsors, horse sellers, auction race bidders, and those who donated online or anonymously. Connor Quinn and staff at the Coach Inn were acknowledged for hosting, while Stal McSorley and Tommy McMahon oversaw the races and Eddie Duffy Jnr acted as master of ceremonies.

The family also reminded winning horse sponsors that race prizes remain available for collection from the Coach Inn or by contacting a family member.
