Police are investigating an attempted murder after a shooting at a home in Portrush late on Thursday night. Nobody was injured when shots were directed at a house in the Craigahullier area just before 11pm, despite two people being inside at the time.

Officers arrived at the scene and found that multiple shots had been fired, targeting two bedroom windows and the front door of the property. The Police Service of Northern Ireland is treating the incident as attempted murder.

A burnt-out car discovered in a forested area near Conogher Road, Ballymoney, during the early hours of Friday morning is believed to be linked to the attack. Detectives are investigating the circumstances around both the shooting and the vehicle fire.

Detective Inspector Connolly appealed for anyone who was in the Craigahullier area on Thursday night to come forward. Police particularly want to hear from witnesses who may have seen a Volkswagen Passat or a Volkswagen Jetta in the Portrush or Ballymoney areas that evening or in the early hours of Friday. Dashcam, CCTV, and other footage could also assist the investigation.

Witnesses can contact police via the online appeal form, quoting reference 1850 of 09/07/26. Alternatively, information can be given by calling 101, or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
