A free three-day blues and roots music festival returns to Armagh City this summer, offering more than 40 performances across 15 venues from Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August.

The 7 Hills Blues Fest, organised by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, features artists with connections to Thin Lizzy, as well as local and international acts. Eric Bell, a founding member of Thin Lizzy, performs with his trio. Other confirmed acts include Crow Black Chicken, Rob Strong, Led Hedley, Banshee Band, Villiers and the Villains, Courtnay Giffin, The Dirt and Freedom 35s.

Lord Mayor Mary O’Dowd said the festival showcases musical talent and creates a welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors. She added that events like 7 Hills support the local economy, attracting thousands of visitors and providing a boost for businesses, hospitality providers and retailers.

The programme includes lunchtime performances on the bandstand on Friday, followed by the MD Rafferty Music School Live Lounge, street acts, face painting and balloon modelling. On Saturday an artisan market runs from 1pm to 6pm at the Shambles Market, offering food and craft stalls.

The festival is one of the council’s major annual events and draws visitors from across the region and beyond.
