Police are examining online footage that appears to show a man in a Union Jack balaclava and wielding imitation machine guns while leading a tour group in front of a paramilitary mural on Belfast’s Shankill Road.

The video, circulated on social media, captures the masked man gesturing toward a mural commemorating loyalist killer Stephen ‘Top Gun’ McKeag as members of the group, including young people, pose for photographs. A voice on the recording can be heard saying, “I hope it doesn’t kick off again.”

The mural is a well-known landmark on black taxi tours, which guide visitors through areas of west Belfast to view peace walls and murals left from the Troubles. McKeag, a UDA commander, was linked to at least 12 sectarian murders before his death from a drugs overdose in 2000.

A PSNI spokesperson said officers are aware of the video and are making enquiries. No formal reports have been received, but police have urged anyone with information to contact them on 101. The identity of the man and the tour operator remain unknown.
